Eobi Life Certificate or Eobi Proof of Life Certificate
Whenever an individual gets retired he/she applies for their
old-age benefits and gets after completion of due process. During the process
of application every document submitted by employees are scrutinized and kept
in record for future requirement such as submission of proof of life
certificates, updated address or contact numbers etc.
EOBI has registered their insured persons and pensioners in
their databases and are committed to make their system free from ghost
pensioners or insured persons. For this purpose EOBI Pak has devised the method
with collaboration of Bank Alfalah Ltd (BAFL) where all the registered
pensioners of EOBI will have to perform their Proof of Life or Biometric
Verification after every six months. When the pensioner performs their
bio-metric verification, the bank directly receives their life verification
report and their pension payment period is extended for upcoming six months.
All over the world the pensioners of any country are considered
very important; as they have spent huge portion of their life in performing
govt. duties. In Pakistan the workers-labors working in private companies are
being registered time to time and they get their future secured after the
retirement. Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) is the custodian of
such private company pensioners.
Recently, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued
Circular 1/2021 dated 1st Feb 2021 wherein all the registered banks
are strictly directed to open accounts for the pensioner in country, they will
be offered wallet accounts where the privileges of transfers of money and
shopping etc are given. While on other hand EOBI pensioners are given with
limited account facilities such as the EOBI pensioner would only be able to
receive their EOBI monthly pension only. They cannot transfer any amount of
money from their accounts to other accounts.
State Bank of Pakistan has directed all the pensioners to
perform or submit their biometrics and life certificate in order to keep their
accounts and pension active. If any pensioner fails to perform bio-metric or
fails to submit their proof of life certificate in the month of March or
September, their account and pension will be seized until their biometrics are
performed.
EOBI pensioners do not fall in the ambit of SBP circular; as
they are already performing their biometric verifications after every six
months. So the EOBI pensioners are not required to submit EOBI Life Certificate
or EOBI Proof of Life Certificate to any EOBI regional office.
If, there is any type of notification issued regarding same
topic, the pensioners of EOBI will be informed through SMS by Bank Alfalah Ltd
on their registered contact numbers.
